The fine print:
What you need to know. Why this rule exists. Credit union membership is required. Only new members qualify for the $400 bonus offer. You are not eligible if you have had any account or membership with the credit union in the past 6 months. Limit one promotional bonus per individual, regardless of the number of accounts opened. One of the goals of this promotion is to grow our member-owned movement. With more new members, we can do more for all of our members. Subject to approval. Certain restrictions may apply. See full terms and conditions for details and restrictions of the cash back bonus promotion. We need the ability to weed out people who are trying to take advantage of the offer without intending to be good standing members in the cooperative. * Direct deposit only qualifies. Deposit requirement cannot be met by check, cash, internal transfer, or person-to-person payments. Minimum qualifying direct deposit is $1,000 per month for two consecutive months. Making direct deposit a requirement is our way of confirming that we are accepting new members who will be using this as their primary account. See Cashback Checking terms and conditions for details and restrictions of the program.
Qualified Debit/Credit Card Transactions must be posted to the account by the last day of the month. You must reach an increment of 1 transaction to receive the full bonus. The following transactions are not included in the calculation of transactions:
The number crunchers built these rules to make sure we can actually afford to pay out the rewards. By enforcing these rules, we ensure the program can continue. Individuals in each tier are eligible to earn up to $50.00 per month in total cash back rewards. This total is split between the cash back on purchases ($30.00 per month limit), and the cash back earned from loan payments ($20.00 per month limit).
**A monthly maximum of $30 can be earned for Debit or Credit Card transactions. First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union reserves the right to retroactively correct errors and determine additional excluded transactions.
***A monthly maximum of $20 can be earned for the Loan Payment bonus. Cash back calculated is based on the sum of all payments made on closed end loans and lines of credit with balances (indirect dealer loans are not eligible for qualification purposes). Mortgage loans may be used to determine eligibility for Tier 3 rewards, however, Mortgage payments and Courtesy Pay repayment loans are not included in the calculation for loan payments. In addition, any amount paid in excess (additional principle) of the monthly payment amount due pursuant to the loan agreement/payment plan will not be included in the calculation of loan payments. Putting a cap on total cash payouts each month is another rule to make sure we can afford to continue the program.
Note that as a member-owned institution, ultimately any surplus money we earn from our products and services does eventually get returned back to our members whether it be through investments in our operations or increasing the generosity of our direct benefits.
