First Commonwealth partnered with the Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School to teach 150 second-graders how to turn an idea into a booming business.
Throughout the program, students learned about budgeting, marketing and business plans, and gained an understanding of broad concepts related to entrepreneurship.
For the challenge, the students were divided into six different “companies” and had to develop and create a product, which they then sold to their classmates, teachers and parents. Profits from their sales benefited a charity chosen by each company.
