A new text scam has surfaced in the last few days. This appears to be a national scam and some of our members have received texts stating, " Suspect withdrawal has been detected from your FCU debit card. Please call your verification Support Service immediately: 215.277.2053". The text does not specifically mention First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union.
If the recipient calls the phone number in the text, they receive an automated message requesting the caller to enter their card number. Please do not call this number and never enter any of your personal or financial information.
How can you tell your text is not from First Commonwealth?
- First Commonwealth may contact you via phone not text regarding potential fraud to your account. The person will identify themselves as a First Commonwealth representative. They will not ask for your card number. Normally, they are verifying purchases you made to ensure they are not fraudulent.
- If you aren't sure the caller is a representative from First Commonwealth, you can contact Member Services at 610.821.2400.
