Let’s face it – shopping for gifts is tough when you’re not old enough to have a job and earn money. So let’s brainstorm some gift ideas that don’t require cash!
FIRST, CONSIDER GIFTS OF SERVICE.
Consider writing out some “coupons” that offer your help with household chores (as long as they aren’t tasks you already do regularly). Maybe you could offer to help take out the garbage, empty the dishwasher, set the table, fold laundry, etc.
NEXT, HOW ABOUT CREATING SOMETHING?
Use your talents to write a poem about how much you appreciate all your parents do for you. Other ideas include drawing a picture of your family, creating a homemade card or writing a story about a fun family memory and illustrating it yourself!
LAST, YOUR PARENTS MAY APPRECIATE THE GIFT OF TIME.
If your parents have activities they enjoy doing, offer to spend time engaging in that activity with them. If your mom likes to bake, for instance, you could offer to assist her in the kitchen. Or maybe you could promise your dad to go golfing or fishing with him when the weather gets nicer.
SET ON GOING SHOPPING?
If you have your heart set on purchasing a gift, there are things you can buy for just a little money: a favorite chocolate bar, a fragrant hand soap or even a nice pen. Whatever you decide, your parents will appreciate that you’ve thought about something special for them!
