Giving Tuesday

Black Friday & Cyber Monday are over.  Today is #GivingTuesday.  I personally had never heard of #GivingTuesday and was intrigued to find out this movement is 3 years old.  It is a global day dedicated to giving back.  Today charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

#GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation.  Together, with a team of influencers and founding partners, they launched a global movement that engages over 10,000 organizations worldwide.

#GivingTuesday’s website has ideas that your family, schools, businesses and non-profits can use to participate in this event.  These ideas are not only for today, but can be used throughout the year to help your family remember how you can give all year round.

Below are links to websites that list over 50 organizations in our area that have registered to participate in #GivingTuesday 2014:

If you have the means, please consider giving to these worthy causes in our community.
