First Commonwealth is pleased to present its Second Annual Kids Calendar Art Contest! We invite children in grades K-12 (ages 4-18) to create the artwork for our 2021 calendar, which is inspired by this year’s Youth Month theme: “Miraculous savings today. Magical spending tomorrow.” For your chance to be featured in our calendar, please submit an entry that represents either the miraculous ways you are working to grow your money today or the magical things you hope to do with your money in the future. For instance, are you:
- Doing household chores to earn an allowance?
- Tracking all your spending in a notebook?
- Planning to use your savings to help pay for college?
- Hoping to donate your savings to people in need?
Entries will be judged on the artist’s ability to create a submission that adheres to the contest theme: “Miraculous savings today. Magical spending tomorrow”. Judges will consider: INTERPRETATION of the theme; ORIGINALITY of the submission; QUALITY of the artwork (Is it pleasing to the eye?); OVERALL ARTISTIC ABILITY (Does the artwork show some degree of creativity and skill for its age group?); and REPRODUCTION (Can the artwork be reproduced with reasonable quality and clarity?). All entries MUST include a completed entry form, which can be downloaded here.
Please note that all entries are free and open to any K-12 student who wants to create an illustration for the annual wall calendar. A first-place artist will be selected for each grade, and the winners will receive a $100 prize.
In addition, the artwork for each grade division winner will illustrate the cover and all 12 months of the calendar. Entries can be made from any medium, including pastels, oil pastels, pen, pencil, charcoal, acrylics, watercolor, oils, mixed media, and digital media.
Art entries can be turned in now until June 30, 2020, at 11:59 pm. Entries can be dropped off at any of our Financial Centers or mailed to First Commonwealth FCU, Attn: Calendar Contest, PO Box 20450, Lehigh Valley, PA 18002, along with a completed entry form. Credit Union employees, board members, and their immediate family members are ineligible.
We welcome you to invite your friends, family, and any students you know to participate in this contest. We appreciate your help and look forward to the entries! For more information, call us at 610.821.2403.
