First Commonwealth is pleased to present its First Annual Kids Calendar Art Contest! We invite children in grades K-12 (ages 4-18) to create artwork for our 2020 calendar, which is inspired by this year’s Youth Month theme: “The future is yours. Picture it! Save for it! Share it!” Our vision for this special keepsake calendar is to celebrate financial wellness by focusing on snapshots of how to prepare your finances today for a picture-perfect tomorrow.

For your chance to be featured in our calendar, please submit an entry that represents a snapshot of what you are doing to ensure picture-perfect finances in the future. For example, are you:

  • Stashing your savings in a special spot?
  • Trying to minimize spending?
  • Working to earn money?
  • Following a budget?

Entries will be judged on the artist’s ability to create a submission that adheres to the contest theme: “Preparing your finances today for a picture-perfect tomorrow.” Judges will consider: INTERPRETATION of the theme; ORIGINALITY of the submission; QUALITY of the artwork (Is it pleasing to the eye?); OVERALL ARTISTIC ABILITY (Does the artwork show some degree of creativity and skill for its age group?); and REPRODUCTION (Can the artwork be reproduced with reasonable quality and clarity?).

Please note that all entries are free and open to any K-12 student who wants to create an illustration for the annual wall calendar. A first-place artist will be selected for each grade, and the winners will receive a $100 prize. In addition, the artwork for each grade division winner will illustrate the cover and all 12 months of the calendar. Entries can be made from any medium, including pastels, oil pastels, pen, pencil, charcoal, acrylics, watercolor, oils, mixed media and digital media.

Art entries can be turned in now until June 30, 2019, at 11:59 PM. Entries can be dropped off at any of our financial centers or mailed to First Commonwealth FCU, Attn: Calendar Contest, PO Box 20450, Lehigh Valley, PA 18002.

We welcome you to invite your friends, family and any students you know to participate in this contest. We appreciate your help and look forward to the entries! For more information, call us at 610.821.2403.
