Joined by representatives from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union officially opened their Emmaus Financial Center yesterday. First Commonwealth members now have 8 convenient and easily accessible locations to choose from, as well as 24/7 access to mobile and online banking.
The new 2,800 square foot financial center, located on Chestnut Street in Emmaus, includes a financial wellness center, social spaces for conversation, certified financial wellness coaches, extended hours, café with free coffee, three ITMs (Interactive Transaction Machines), a drive-up and focus on community.

First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union officially broke ground on their new corporate headquarters in Lower Macungie Township on Tuesday, starting construction on a new 81,000-square-foot mixed-use building and an adjacent 5,000-square-foot financial center.
The top two floors of the larger building will be occupied by First Commonwealth, with leased retail and office space available on the first floor. The new building will consolidate the credit union’s two existing headquarters locations, bringing together back office, support departments and Contact Center staff that are currently split between offices on Brodhead Road in Hanover Township and Union Boulevard in Allentown.

First Commonwealth to Centralize Headquarters Operations at New Site
BETHLEHEM, Penn.-The $716-million First Commonwealth FCU has announced plans to centralize its corporate operations in a new office building in the Trexler Business Center in Lower Macungie Township.
It will also open its 12th branch in the process.
According to First Commonwealth, approximately 140 full- and part-time employees will be based on the top two floors of an 81,000-square-foot building and in an adjacent 5,000-square-foot branch. The Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners has approved the plan.
Tricia C. Szurgot, chief marketing and experience officer, told the Morning Call the move comes as First Commonwealth has increased its back office and support staff over the past two years.
Under One Roof
The new headquarters will enable the credit union to bring under one roof staff currently split between a corporate office on Broadhead Road in Hanover Township, Northampton County, and an office on Union Boulevard in Allentown. It also positions the bank to build its presence in the western end of the region, the Morning Call reported.
"The headquarters allows us to continue to expand the offering of quality financial services to credit union members and show our commitment to the Lehigh Valley community," Szurgot told the publication.
First Commonwealth hopes to complete construction by the end of 2020, with a phased move-in beginning early 2021. The branch is expected to open sooner.
The ground floor of the three-story building, which First Commonwealth will own, allows for 10,400 square feet of retail space. The adjacent branch will also have a second floor for office space, the Morning Call reported.

The Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners granted preliminary/final approval of a land development plan that will bring the corporate operations of First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union to the Trexler Business Center during Thursday night's meeting. The vote was unanimous.
